About this data
The baseline of 3,383 data centres comes from OpenStreetMap (ODbL), the open, community-mapped database of the world — so it shows where data centres are known to be, not an official census, and it is more complete in the US and Europe than in less-mapped regions. The largest AI campuses, sized by megawatts, come from Epoch AI’s curated tracker of disclosed frontier sites — 60 campuses in all, of which 50 carry a precise enough public address to place on the map (the other 9 are counted in the totals but not plotted). Those power figures are estimates, the set is currently US-heavy, and a handful of campuses appear as hollow racks because their power is announced but not yet online. We refresh the snapshot periodically rather than calling either source on every visit. Snapshot taken 2026-06-24.
