Honest projection · estimated
Oil Produced Today (est.)
A projection of how much oil the world’s wells have pumped since midnight UTC, ticking at the most recent daily average. It counts crude oil and condensate — the oil that comes out of the ground — not the wider “petroleum and other liquids” total that adds gas liquids, biofuels and refinery gain (the explainer covers both). Real output is steadier than most resources but still shifts with OPEC decisions and demand. The fields it comes from are one tap away in Grid.
About this number
This is an honest projection, not a census. It is computed by carrying a published figure forward at a known rate over real elapsed time — ≈ 970 barrels/sec, from EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook — ~84 million barrels of crude oil and condensate produced worldwide per day, spread evenly. The source is US EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook. The true value is known only to within a margin; this is the running estimate, and we label it as one.
