A projection of how much economic output the whole world has produced since midnight UTC, ticking at the most recent complete-year total — a nominal gross world product of about $110 trillion in 2024 — spread evenly across the year. That is the combined GDP of every economy on Earth, at market exchange rates. The scale dwarfs everything beside it: the world produces in roughly six hours what the entire US federal government spends in a year. About this number
This is an honest projection, not a census. It is computed by carrying a published figure forward at a known rate over real elapsed time — ≈ $3.5m/sec (≈$300bn/day), from IMF World Economic Outlook — world GDP (nominal) about $110.06 trillion in 2024, spread evenly across the year. The source is IMF — World Economic Outlook (Apr 2026). The true value is known only to within a margin; this is the running estimate, and we label it as one.
