How hot is summer running,
right now?

Live heat, UV and air quality for the world’s summer regions — the temperature and what it feels like, today’s forecast high, the UV index on the WHO scale and the air on the US EPA scale, city by city. And honestly seasonal: summer is June–August north of the equator and December–Februarysouth of it — each region below says which is which.

In season now — northern summer (June–August)

The tropics — hot year-round

The deep tropics have no temperate summer — heat and high UV run all year, shaped by the monsoon rather than the calendar.

Southern hemisphere — summer returns in December

South of the equator the seasons are flipped: summer runs December–February, so these regions are in their winter half of the year right now. Their readings are live either way.

How to read the numbers

The heat figures are measurements— the air temperature and, separately, what it feels like once humidity and wind are counted in — not a health verdict. The two indexes carry their standard, attributed scales:

UV index — the WHO scale

LowNo protection needed for most people.
ModerateProtection advised around midday — shade, cover, sunscreen.
HighProtection required — reduce midday sun, use shade, cover up, sunscreen.
Very highExtra protection required — avoid the midday sun where you can.
ExtremeTake all precautions — unprotected skin burns in minutes.

Air quality — the US EPA AQI scale

GoodAir quality is good.
ModerateAcceptable; unusually sensitive people may take it easier outdoors.
Unhealthy for Sensitive GroupsSensitive groups should limit long or intense time outdoors.
UnhealthyEveryone may feel effects; consider shortening strenuous time outdoors.
Very UnhealthyHealth alert: avoid prolonged outdoor exertion.
HazardousHazardous air — avoid outdoor exertion.
