WEATHER Β· SNOW DEPTH

Snow Depth

Snow depth β€” how deep the snow lying on the ground is right now, from a dusting to deep mountain pack. The winter snowline and the great snowfields at a glance. (For snow currently falling, see New Snowfall.)

What it shows

The snow layer shows snow on the ground β€” the depth of lying snowpack β€” so you can see the winter snowline and the deep mountain reserves at a glance.

How to read it

A faint dusting reads pale; deep mountain and high-latitude pack reads bright white-blue. Track the snowline advance and retreat with the seasons, and the great snowfields of the high ranges and the poles.
