What it shows
The snow layer shows snow on the ground — the depth of lying snowpack — so you can see the winter snowline and the deep mountain reserves at a glance.
How to read it
A faint dusting reads pale; deep mountain and high-latitude pack reads bright white-blue. Track the snowline advance and retreat with the seasons, and the great snowfields of the high ranges and the poles.
