Precipitation

Forecast precipitation — how much rain and melted snow the model expects each hour, running forward along the timeline (distinct from the past-only live radar).

What it shows

Total precipitation is the model’s forecast of how much rain and melted snow will fall in each hour — not radar of what is falling now, but what the atmosphere is expected to produce as the timeline runs forward.

How to read it

Faint blue is light rain; deeper blue, green and yellow mark heavier downpours. Unlike the live radar (which only shows the recent past), this field extends days ahead — press play and watch rain bands form and move before they arrive.
